"Vanilla Ice, London, UK, 4 December 1990; I met Vanilla Ice at a record company office where we shared a pizza before embarking upon our portrait session. He’s an interesting subject and made for those perfect and almost surreal images I endeavor to create…shades on, shades off, a few hand gestures in classic rap style and all on my favored black backdrop. And that was it, one more in the bag for Melody Maker. I do look back on this shoot and think, ‘nope, wouldn’t have changed a thing!’ With hindsight though, maybe I should have grabbed a few color frames…" - Phil Nicholls
